DODD, Francis (1874-1949):

The Garden Door (portrait of Isabel Dacre in mourning dress)

Etching and drypoint on Japanese laid paper, 1909. Schwabe 44. Signed in pencill

A very fine, rich impression with the subtle work on the face and lace printed beautifully, with margins all round. Very pale mount-stain in these, otherwise in very good condition. 354 x 200mm.

Susan Isabel Dacre was an artist and close friend of Dodd’s who helped in the management of his artistic career in both Manchester and London. She was also active in the Suffragette movement and president of the Manchester Society of Women Artists for a time. Dodd made several portraits of her.
