BISCAINO, Bartolomeo
(1632-1657):

The Adoration at the Manger with two Angels and five Cherubs

Etching. Bartsch XXI, 107, 6, first state before Daman’s address. A very clearly-printed counterproof.
Provenance: William Esdaile (Lugt 2617), one of the most eminent English collectors of the early 19th Century, signed in ink with his initials in the lower right corner recto, and again on the verso, along with his coded source and the date 1833, numbered 50 in the lower left margin corner recto

An unusually strong, nuanced impression for a counterproof. Apart from a made-up tip in the upper left corner, in very good condition. 210 x 148mm. Extremely rare.
